Mythology, Gods & Goddesses Through Sidereal Time
Project Overview
The Constrictors & Expanders is an artistic + mythological study exploring gods and goddesses from around the world through a single organising idea:
every deity expresses the energy of constriction (pressure, limits, endings) or expansion (growth, creation, liberation).
Julie maps these mythic archetypes across cultures — Greek, Roman, Vedic, Egyptian, Norse, Celtic and more — and aligns them with sidereal astrology, where planetary movements and nakshatras activate different archetypal forces in real time.
The project brings together:
• Mythology — the stories humans use to explain inner forces
• Archetypal Psychology — where these powers live inside us
• Sidereal Sky Timings — when each archetype rises or retreats
• Visual Art — original works created during active mythic windows
Key Ideas
• Constrictors: Gods of boundaries, endings, pressure, death, discipline
• Expanders: Gods of birth, growth, abundance, beauty, love, freedom
• Hybrids: Threshold deities who do both (Kali, Odin, Dionysus)
Project Purpose
To show that ancient gods are not dead symbols —
they are living energies that move through:
• seasons
• planetary transits
• collective emotion
• and personal transformation
Output
A growing body of artwork and writing that invites viewers to recognise:
Which archetype is shaping their life now — the constrictor or the expander?
